    Functional Movement Workshop

    Functional Movement Workshop join me for this 1.5 hour workshop, focusing on functional movement. What is functional movement? The short answer is real world situational biomechanics. The ability to move the body with proper muscle and joint function. I am passionate about this topic. After having two back surgeries I was from moving my body in any way, never mind with muscle intelligence and awareness. After taking years of yoga and finally becoming a yoga teacher myself, I started to dive into functional movement. Often times my yoga classes include some portion of this topic, but I think it is important to step away from our routines sometimes and explore other approaches. When we add this approach into our yoga practice, into our workouts and daily activities, it helps us strengthen and stretch, unwind, unbind and stabilize and mobilize. We begin to become aware of our body mechanics, our patterns; where we can improve and develop so that we can ultimately live in a pain free, balanced manner. Grab a water bottle and join me for this workshop! You won't be disappointed.

    Yin Flow - Stomach/Spleen

    Join me for this 60-minute Yin yoga flow. In this class we explore poses that focus on the spleen and the stomach. We talk about the five elements within nature and how they connect to the organs, representing the balance and relationship between Yin & Yang. Each pose is held for 3-5 minutes, allowing the body to soften in each pose. This is a great topic to explore as cold and flu season is in full bloom. This is also helpful for restlessness and anxiety.

    Here is a great 20-minute flow to do alone, incorporate into your routine, practice or repeat a few times for a workout. In this video we focus on the glutes, specifically the gluteus medius. Often times this muscle is neglected and tends to be very weak. But it’s so important! It helps stabilize the pelvis in standing, walking and our one legged standing poses.
